Default Oil Problems

Having trouble with oil puking out of the breather/carb. 1985 FXWG, any ideas as to what could be causing this? Mind you, the bike has sat for about 5-10 years and hasn't been out for a ride for the better part of 15 years.

Sometimes an oil level too high can make this mess.
Common problem.
Did you just change oil?

Maybe remove some oil, not much, and see if the oil mess goes away.

Got similar problem with my 1988 FLHTC. Good oil pressure +20psi, but when starting from sitting for several weeks, it "pukes" 1-2 cups of oil out the breather. On longer trips it uses 1 quart of oil every 600 miles, but no blue smoke. 110K miles.
I never overfill the oil.

Check in over at the EVO section, it probably has sumpped. Run it till it quits puking(I would remove the breather hose and put in a pan) when it quits check the oil and top off. Should be good to go.

Apples402 is correct -- there's a check valve in the oil pump for the oil return to the tank , some oil is getting past the valve and going back into the crankcase , when you crank the engine the oil has to go some where fast -- out the crankcase vent tube into the carb or out on the ground that's all it is , a fix is if you let it set for more than a couple of weeks is to drain the tank and reinstall the oil before next startup or pinch off the return line and open it back before next start up , or do it right and remove the oil pump clean it up replace the valve and keep your fingers crosed
