Has anyone installed the SE Compensator Kit 40274-08A?
The instructions call for cranking down on the retaining nut to 140 ft-lbs. Are you serious? Is that torque supposed to squish the dish shaped springs and put a preload on them? Also, are you telling me that the sprocket is really going to slide up and down on those ramps with that kind of preload?

One more thing - the instruction call for holding the sprocket retainer with a 1-3/4" box wrench. Where the heck do you find one of those?

 

Yeah 140 lb/ft of torque is quite a bit. It's a bear getting the wrench to click.

It doesn't really pre-load the springs as much as hold everything in place. Puts a little pre-load but not much.

There are a lot of people that have issues with fretting on the journal that the sprocket rides on. You can do one of two things. 1) Hope for the best or 2) spend a lot of time and effort (and have fairly high machining skills) to "fix" it (which hasn't been for sure proven yet).

For most people I think option 1 is probably most realistic. If you are interested in #2, pm me and I can point you to some details.
