Default Engine case serial number problems

Just bought an 02 special construction softail. It was originally built by cycle connection in Joplin,MO wich is a Harley dealer. All the owners of the bike claim to have not changed anything and the dealer is claiming the motor is a 80ci revtech engine. First of revtech said they never made a 80ci and the serial isn't one of theirs. I've called all the major motor and case manufacturers with no luck. Maybe someone on here can help me. The numbers on the case are located just below the jugs in the middle of them. Number has the open star at the end and beginning of the number. The number is BKLT******. Thanks.

Good luck, Bro. I've also got a serial # problem. A friend found an HD 45 motor in a barn. The only serial # is T21456 located on the case between the jugs on the left side. It has a large pulley (maybe 20" dia.) attached to the crank. I need to know where this motor came from. Thanks.

In regards to the 45"er, here in NYS, you can get those registered, by taking those numbers to the DMV, with a pencil tracing, and if it has not been registered in quite some time, they'll issue you a registation.
That 20" pulley on that engine indicates it may have been used for an irrigation pump, sawmill, or for some other remote power source.

Thanks for the info. I suspected that the 45 was used as a power source. I'm still trying to figure out what the serial # indicates.
