Default Adjusting push rods

I adjusted my my SE adjustable push rods to 2.5 turns and still have a lot of valve train noise. My question is, can i just add 1/4 or 1/2 turn increments to the push rods or do i need to start over doing the adjustment.

Some more info would be nice, were you adjusting the pushrods to remove valve train noise or did you replace something such as lifters?

Removed push rods to replace cam chain tensioners. Just trying to get it quieted down just a little more.

Anytime I adjust mine, i.e. motor work, I run them out 4 full turns and then back off as needed. Adjust out then let sit for about 30 minutes to ensure lifters have relaxed and then back off as needed. Works for me every time.

If your sure about initial zero lash setting, you wouldn't have to start from scratch. Being the SE move about .04 per turn, a 1/4 to 1/2 turn shouldn't be a problem.

We have found that loading the lifter to .140"-.150", is where things are nice and quiet, even at full operating temps.

I have always went the prescribed 2 1/2 turns. Near the top of this thread someone stated 0.04" per turn and your post suggests 0.140"-0.150". That would be 3 1/2 - 3 3/4 turns from 0 lash. Does that sound right to you or is the SE adjustable pushrod thread pitch different?

Thanks again for the replies. The se push rods i have are the 24tpi push rods. Right now i have them at 3 full turns. Hillside does that mean i can go to 3 1/2 turns safely??
