Default Stock mufflers on a 99 Wide Glide (California Emmissions)

RE: Drilling the baffles on a 1999 wide glide with Stock California Emmissions mufflers

I wanted to drill out the baffles to get a little sound out of my Wide Glide. The mufflers on my bike are different than the stock mufflers on my friend's 05 Stock low rider that is not equipped with California emmissions. Do the California Bikes have mufflers with catalytic converters inside? And can I drill the baffles and obtain a similar sound as the 05 lo rider with drilled baffles? And do I need to re jet the carbuerator if I drill the baffles?

Thanks,
Haywood

Drilling the baffles will not give you a pleasant sound compared to replacement mufflers and If they are cats, the cost of replacement would not justify the drilling. Pick up a set of SE II mufflers and you'll have a real nice sound and keep the stockers for when the EPA gets tougher. A rejet will make the bike run much better over the stock EPA setup regardless but not really needed just for mufflers. I would do it though. Check this out https://www.hdforums.com/m_65123/tm.htm

Access is Denied to the link. Could someone explain briefly what the topic of the link covered? I have a 05 Dyna FXDLI (California with cat) that I just installed SE II slip-ons ... I am concerned about the limited back pressure from the almost non exsistant baffles. This and if it will cause damage to the engine if I do not re-map the EFI.

Everything else is stock (for now). I really think there is need to repace the baffles to quiet them down some for the EPA Police and maybe increase a little backpressure.

Any advice would be helpful ...
