I think you have it, judging by your pic below "2006 Vivid Black Ultra". You have to click the 'Add signature' box below the text area when you post and it shows up.
If you mean the left-side Avatar, you need a pic 145x145 or less in size, then just upload it in the 'Avatar' are in your 'My Profile' tab (at the top of the page).
For example, my AIH sig will only show below when I check that box above the 'Ok' button, but the Avator of Death Dealer always appears at the left.
