I too had some issues with HDF running slow,,,especially when I first would
log on...but also with some other sites...
I've always kept my Start-Up apps to a minimum, and I have no teenagers to screw my computer up with Spyware from their sites...lol

I downloaded "Uniblue" Registry Cleaner and it found 2333 errors on my computers Registry Index, and 737 errors within Windows...
Uniblue makes a backup before it corrects the errors.

I use Norton Internet Security with the Anti-phishing turned off(it don't like forums)...I never messed with the Registry before,,,just normal Disk Defrags...
Now I have a quick running HP computer again

Ccleaner, or glary utilites work sell too. There are other tricks to make it even faster but you gotta learn those on your own.
