Default Legend Revo-A 12" or 13"

I am about to order Legend Revo-A's for my 2020 Street Glide Special. I am trying to decide between the 12 or 13" shocks. The owner of our local dealership recommends I go with 12". He said the only way I will notice a difference is if I am riding the mountains all of the time. I don't do that very often. Everything I read online for the most part says go 13". I have also read that Legends recommends 13". My biggest concern is the looks changing when the bike is sitting without me on it. I have also thought about doing the 13"s and then adding a 1" lowering block. I don't know how that would affect things, though.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
Chad

I went with 13's. Like you said, you could always go with lowering blocks if you need, but I think you will be happy with the 13 in.

Go with 13s They have longer travel and can soak up harder hits.

Anybody that tells you to go with 12" shocks likely has no idea what they are talking about.

If you want go one inch lower go with the 12 inch shocks. Do not go with the lower blocks. Have heard of horror stories about them. Just my 2 cents.

I installed the Legend revo a 13 wiith standard spring shocks on my 17 street glide and set the ride height to specs for my weight 190 pounds, Much better ride than the thirteen inch HD premium touring model shocks that I had bought to replace the stock useless 12s that came with the bike. Even at the lowest spring pre load setting they still road harsh . Much better ride now and much needed relief on my back now and they handle the twisties just fine. My biggest mistake is that I should have spent the extra money earlier on instead of buying those crappy factory shocks.

I’ve used lowering blocks for tens of thousands of miles on every kind of crap road known to man with zero issues.

I’d be willing to bet the horror stories come from people who shop on eBay, don’t own a torque wrench, and have never heard of locktite.

To maintain factory stance and have good travel, a 13” shock with a 1” lowering block is idea to me. You still get full range of motion from a 13” shock without the tire scrubbing the fender while still keeping the 1” lower height.

I have 13" shocks (getting ready to go up to 14") and have never had my tire scrub the fender. At least not that I was aware of.

Hey slodsm- what lowering blocks are you using? I bought a kit (TMW brand ) but haven’t installed it yet, I’m still getting my shocks dialed in and not sure I’m going lower it, but just curious what brand or brands someone who’s used lowering blocks would recommend.
Thanks

FYI, 12" stock shocks on a 20 tourer sit at 12" with 0 sag......13" Legends sit at 12.5" with the weight of the bike alone. Only 1/2" difference. Once you adjust the SAG to your weight and sit on it it will drop to 12" and be equal to a stock setup.
