Well it's time to put a 16 inch wheel on front of my 04 1200 sportster custom. The problem is Which wide glide front end will fitt the neck and bearings of the stock neck? I'd also like to go 41 mm on forks too. Does any one know what will fit w/o too much machineing? And NO I don't want to buy a new wide glide. ( I've been there done that got the Tshirts.) This is my first Sportster, after owning 6 big twins. ( The Sportster is much more fun to ride). I guess I'm regressing as I age ! ! !
NOTE this idea came to me after doing a demo ride on the new 48. I liked the handeling with the 16 up front, but not the 2.1 gallon tank and the low bars. So I want to go wide and also 18" apes. My custom has the bigger tank and a real good Carb.
