I like the look of the Wide Glide front end, just looks more beefy than the narrow forks. Anyone else like this look or have had it done on their Sportster? If so, how does it effect handling? Expensive to do?
I love the look of the wide glide front end, looks much more aggressive. You should PM 6o66er or hope he sees this thread so he can give some input, I know he went with a wide glide front end. I've actually looked at em on ebay..they didn't seem very expensive, I saw a front end selling for..360$ or so.
Thanks. The narrow front end does not look as bad with the peanut tank but still could be wider. I have that wide 4.5 gallon tank and the tiny forks just don't seem to match. Looks weak.
Here is a link to a Front End conversion that they are selling on Ebay, I have been looking at it and thinking of putting one on my Bike, I may have to with my Front Wheel, I am putting New Custom After Market wheels and not sure if it will fit the Stock Front End, I will find out soon ,
here is the link -
The difference if I recall is that up to 03 you can use internal fork steeringstops but new models have weldedon forkstop tabs. Those forks (which are by Ultima I think) don't have extended tabs on the lower tree and require internal stops so without drilling and tapping them for ext. posts they won't work. There are a number of complete front ends out there and triple trees that can be made to work but all of the ones that absolutely will work (HHI, Pro-One, Accutronix, Cycle Engineering, and Vulcan) cost $400 to over $700 just for the trees and then you still need an axle, fender spacers and brake rotor spacer kit. Essentially to get a complete 41mm front end kit that will bolt right up with no mods. whatsoever it will run you $1200-1700.00 which is why most just convert their 39mm to mid or wide glide.
The most complete triple tree conversion using your stock 39mm tubes that I found including everything needed for about $450 was through http://www.vulcanworks.net/store_4/p...=11&page=1. If you want raked trees and a superb kit then HHI or Accutronix is the way to go but is $$$.
I think I am going with the wide glide front when I finish or if I finish my 08 fatbob tank conversion. If I do do it I'm going to look for just the triple so I can either buy it in black or powdercoat it in black and then use all my factory legs and what not. I wanna keep the nightster theme going but get rid of the headlight hood thingy.
Does anyone know if there is a front end between narrow and wide glide? I am interested
Like other said, the narrow glide is a bit narrow and the wide glide is a bit too wide imo.
