If I buy 13 or 14 inch bars on a 2012 ultra without abs do I need to buy extensions for everything or will most of the stock stuff fit? I would rather do a internal wiring job but am not completely stuck on it. I would like to do this as cheap as possible but would rather not be splicing wires on my bike. I have never heard of anyone having a good long term experience soldering the wires on their bike. I am an electrician by trade and know I can do quality work but would rather not if I can avoid it.

Do I need longer wires? Is there a set of bars I can buy that don't require a bunch of extra stuff? I know I can buy a prewired set if I have to but would rather avoid the 650-1300 dollars. I may just do that if I can't get any other viable options.

Thanks and any ideas would be appreciated.

I am also converting over to 14' bars and everything I have read says 10' bars you can use existing and maybe even some 12' with relocating wires under stereo and cables (brake/ clutch) relocated. Anything over that you need to add extensions and get new brake and clutch cables.

RottnRam is right. You need an extension. But no worries about extending your wires. Just solder them and they will be fine. No problems on mine or buddies ever. I think you would be surprised with the all in ones that come internally wired most of them extend wires cause it's easier when you buy housings that are pre-wired. You just can't see it. Easy DIY have no fear

I took a short ride to Namz extensions and had them install their plug and play kit internally while I waited. It was worth the trip, got to meet the owner and had some great conversation. In and out in a hour... paid nominal fee, done correctly..... priceless.

Always an option....
