Default Fork seal replacement

I'm new to being a Harley sportster 883 owner. First problem... Oil running down my front forks. My bike sat for a few years with very infrequent riding. Since I've had it I've been riding it everyday. I went away for 5 days and came back and there was a small puddle at the base of my forks. I like doing things myself and I am waiting for my service manual in the mail. Curious if anyone has any opinions if I should do this myself or take it in for the first time? I'd prefer to do it myself and I'm sure the manual would help once I have it. Anyone have a step by step to pass along? Thanks
