Default Bad Stator

The one problem that has kept me from fully enjoying my 82 FXR restoration was the bad charging system. It did not work at all. I did the troubleshooting and determined the stator was grounded. I had hoped it was just a pinched wire, but needed to tear it down to see.

Thanks to good advice during the restoration I had ground the high points of the inner primary to clear the rotor. So getting to this point was very easy:



Unfortunately the wires looked good and this is my problem:



This should read infinity. I will be buying a new Cycle Electric stator to fix it once and for all time.

New CE stator installed, 14.1v at the battery. Now I can ride it more than 30 miles at a time.
