Now, other than speedo issue, bike was running fine and no noise or problems shifting. I said OK, just fix it.
1 week later, they said I need new 3rd and 5th gear, due to wear. OK, put in new gears.
2 weeks later, they told me uh, your case cracked when we were taking it apart, maybe HD will warranty it. Maybe. Either way, another 4 weeks to get it.
They did get the new case, and had it back in 2 weeks,( after some discussion about how I had plans and needed it back before Laughlin Run).
So I picked it up yesterday, rode it home, trans shifts the same as before, everything ok until I look at my speedo and watch it quit, then go on and off and same as before.
Final tally was $1975 and 6 weeks in shop and bike is same as before.
Going back tomorrow to see what next.
Wish I had looked at this forum and seen all the info about this problem before taking it to the dealer.
Sorry to hear it. After that pile of money spent, the feeling you get when the original problem isn't fixed must be sickening. Some people think I am strange because I don't go to the dealer for service unless I absolutely have to. that's H-D or car/truck dealers. I always look for the other alternative. I was at an indy shop looking to mount and balance my Sportster tires. I found a shop that will do it for $25 bucks a wheel, I supply the tires, and remove and install the wheels.

I bet if you double check your bill you won't find one mistake on the charges. The will charge you for every nut, bolt ,screw, washer, smear of grease or gasket sealer, hand towels and soap, toilet paper sheets, cost of the paper the bill was printed on, ink used, mechanic's time, service writers time, and phone calls to let you know the bikes fixed. That's alot to remember and record. And you expected your bike fixed to? I guess if they did fix your bike right the first time all the rest of their charges wouldn't seem so bad.,,,
