Speedometer problem
Have an 01 Electra Glide Classic 88 ci with fuel injection. Started having problem with speedometer shutting down then coming back on, cleaned the sensor and no change, replaced sensor and still no change. Had the dealer check it and no change, although they charged me enough, lol. Pulled the outer fairing and visually checked the wiring and everything looked tight. Need the odometer as I don't trust the fuel gauge, although it is pretty close to being accurate, but I've only had the bike 11 years so am still a little suspicious of it, maybe in a few more years will trust it. Any ideas for a fix would be greatly appreciated, and thanks.
if the display is shutting down this is an electrical problem, not a speed sensor issue. So the dealer found nothing wrong or did they say they fixed something and it's really not fixed?
I would start with the speedo itself. Look at the back of it where the plug mates to it. Check the pins in both the speedo plug and the actual wiring harness that plugs into the speedo for bent or loose pins and dirt.
then I would move to the ECM connector. Check the same there for loose or bent pins and dirt. Spray some electrical contact cleaner in all connections at the speedo and ecm. Then put dielectric grease in both fittings before you mate them back up.

I have the same problem with my 01 Road Glide. I also have a Baker 6 speed tranny so mine also has a calibrator between the sensor and the speedo. I have tried new speedo, 5 new sensors, 6 new calibrators, rewired from speedo to calibrator, new speedo plug and pins. I have got it now where it works without the calibrator but its incorrect. Voltage coming back to the speedo from the sensor is lower than going to the sensor. That is the only thing I can find. After about 1/2 mile with the calibrator in the speedo drops out. I rode the bike for over 20k miles after the installation of the 6 speed with no problems. Grasping for straws here. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Have you contacted baker support? If the speedo works without the calibrator (regardless of whether it's correct or not) then that tells you where the problem lies at least in my opinion

I have the Evolution from 1989. I put the Deuce (2006) tank with console. Speedometer is original but I have no plug-ins. Looking for pin description of the speedometer.
