Default running issue

Hello. I have a 2008 ultra with 57,000 miles and was out riding last weekend and noticed when I rolled on the throttle while in fifth gear my bike would only rev up and not accelerate. The bike has no issue coming up thru the gears but sometimes it will not always set itself into gear unless you let off the throttle. I was wondering if this might be just a clutch adjustment or if I am headed for new clutch replacement.

Try a full clutch adjustment on a cold engine/primary. I've heard a lot of clutchs lasting 100K miles, unles you slip the clutch a lot.

What speed where you running when you rolled it ? And what RPM range do you tend to ride in ? Seen a lot of toasted clutches over lugging in too high a gear.

Do you use the heel shifter? Sometimes using the heel doesn't fully move the gear into position. Try doing it only with the toe. I have 90,000 on mine with no clutch issues. It sounds like an incomplete shift into fifth. Letting off the throttle to complete the shift is the clue because the gear shaft is unloaded allowing the gear to mesh.
