Planing for a group trip with GPS
#12
Back in the day, we didn't use maps or GPS'S. We just took off in the early morning light. If we got lost we just rode until we found something that looked familiar. Of course there were the few that never made it back. Their dead skeltonised bodies littered the countryside. Abandoned bikes and cars from those that never returned. It's hard to imagine that people today refuse to leave the house without a detailed, mapped out itinerary, so there's no chance they would never return to see their family again.,,,

I am not an expert on these, on the iPhone RidingSocial looks pretty good for a sharing GPS maps and routes. GreatestRoad also looks good for finding the best roads where ever you are. Remember, the best place to be IS where you are.
This is probably more of a tip for iPhone and Mac users. Smart phones have pretty good cameras these days which can embed gps data in the photo. My work flow is simply to take a photo with my iPhone when I stop then use my DSLR Canon for higher quality photos. Once I get home I can import all photos into iPhoto on my Mac then copy the GPS data into the Canon photos from the iPhone photos. The Photos app on the Mac will then give me a map of locations I had been when looking at the photos later on.

I searched high and low for apps to do what you want. The closest I found and works fairly well is inroute. You can plan your route with waypoints then it will link to the gps app of your choice ex. Apple or google. The down side to it is that apple and Google maps do not support multiple waypoints. So what it does is when you start your route it will take you to your first waypoint then you get an alert asking if you want to start to the next waypoint. One tap of the screen and you are on your way to the next waypoint. This continues all the way until you reach your destination. Overall I feel it works fairly well
