To any and all Harley technicians!
So I'm currently attending Wyotech in Daytona Beach, specializing in Harley Davidson. So far I'm very much enjoying the school, one test away from becoming an eagle tech (previous attendees will understand, 4.0 gpa and damn near perfect attendance).
Sold most of my goodies and left my sporty up in NY, currently working 2 jobs to maintain down here. Gotta love that NY work ethic! All worth it.
But anyways, to any Harley techs currently/formerly in the business. Do you have any tips, advice, things you should shouldn't do? Won't graduate until June but any stories or advice would be helpful and good to hear!
Thank you!

Dont ever loose your work ethic and desire to do a good job in spite of what others around you are doing. I'm not a Harley tech but have over 35 years in the workforce starting in Maintenance and moving up to engineering. I now work in the engineering college of a university and trust me, those traits are in short supply today. Good luck in your future.

Dont get discouraged or believe the BS that you will make 50 grand a year starting out. Being a mechanic/technician can be a good rewarding career, but it takes time. You may find it hard to get a job right out of school doing exactly what you want were you want. Just keep your chin up and keep learning. Everything in life is what you make of it, so if your happy and do good work things will all work out.
Best of luck in your new career.

I am not a tech so forgive me for chiming in but I respect you for knowing what you want and going all out to make it happen. I wish you the very best in your career!
The best advice I can give you is to NEVER stop learning. I know a Harley Tech that was one of the best. He continued on to get his college education and then one day he was gone from the dealership. Much to my surprise he was hired with the blessing of the dealership owner by Harley Davidson!
