Default Twin Cam

Hi, I just received my S&S 95" big bore kit for my Dyna I also have the S&S Super E carb. Has anyone installed this and had any crank problems, more specifically twisting unwelded cranks.
Thanks
Mike

Early ones were pretty good about crank twist, When you're in there, might want to check the runout, for you9r peace of mind. If you aren't running gear drive, theres a lot more forgiveness there, I did gear drive on a couple early ones, (03,01) and no issues at all.

It's a '99 FXDS. I also bought the S&S cam support plate and 3 stage oil pump. The kit came with the 585 gear drive cam set. This is my first Harley but I read a couple of books by Donny Petersen before I bought anything.

If you read those books - you will soon find out he wasn't so insightful & that's being pretty nice!

Well that's kind of disappointing, this is my 1st Harley and I checked amazon and he'd written about apparently all of the models. All the S&S stuff I bought was pretty highly rated on J&P

You'll be fine.
I supposedly have one of the worst years for cranks and haven't had a problem.....yet. I've got about 25,000 miles on a Hillside 98" kit.

Yeah don't worry about books, Donnie`s just a little eccentric & when he wrote about the twin cam - he clearly didn't think the cam tensioners would haunt that motor. anyway...welcome to Harley. Ride safe.
