Default Oil filter choice for 92 Evo Softail

I've been searching the forumsfor a while now with no luck so I figured I would justask the experts...I'm tired of paying the local shop for a nice bling custom chrome chrome filter so I'm goingto try out the NAPA/WIX brand, but have been getting conflictingstories on which one to use. I picked up a 1215 but it looks a bit short, is there another # that is better? Someone said a 1225??? PLEASE help. Thanks OH BTW I've got a 92 Fatboy

I don't know how much you're paying for the HD filters but you can buy a chrome K&N for your bike for $12 from M&M Cycle.

http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=KN-170C

Go here and enter the part no. KN-170C

https://www.mandmcycles.com/Default2.htm

You can also get a chrome Amsoil filter for $15. Either the K&N or the Amsoil are much better filters than what you've been using.

Anybody else out there?? Is this it, 1 reply???? Everybody that I talk to in person has something different. So far WIX #'s 51348, 51785, 1215, 1225, and 51215...Now can ALL of those work or what? Someone else said that cross reference a FRAM 3600 and THAT one will work? I'm really lost now.

I use the black WIX 51215 on my EVO Harleys with no trouble. The price is ususally around 2.50-$3.50 depending on which parts store I go to. Several years using them with no trouble at all.

Don't use a Fram filter, they're pure junk. Using good oil and good filters doesn't cost anywhere near as much as engine problems down the road.

Sorry for the snub Lowrider......I appreciate your reply, it did not answer my question about the WIX filter. That's all I was looking for,but it was useful IFI had access to those brands here locallyin ALASKA! Icould mail orderthem but with the latest postal rate increase I'm trying to find something locally available that will work. I don't want this thread to turn into afilter brand bashing session. We ALL have our favorites and reasons behind them beingas such. My .02 is thatI have never heard of anyone loosing a motor to a XXXX brand (fill in the XXX's) filter being used and that was the cause of the problem. My Evo has 43K miles on it and has never been apart for any reason............
