Default I Miss the Dynas Already

Who’s upset about Harley’s unbelievably bizarre decision to discontinue the Dynas? Everyone I’ve talked to is pissed about it... no one is indifferent about it, and certainly no one is happy about it; everyone is upset.

Anyone think they’ll bring back the Dynas within the next few years? Or maybe for 2019 even?

I do miss the Dynas. But my 2018 Softail Fat Bob is a better bike than my 2014 Dyna Fat Bob was, so there's that.....

Why do you miss them? Were you planning on buying a new one?

Buy a used one that hasn't been molested, they're out there and cheap too. I'm a Dyna fan first and foremost and was a little shocked by the decision to kill the line, but in the end it's no big deal either way. In some ways, given HD's lack of quality controls on the new bikes, the Dyna line was spared the indignation of "progress". No other brand could continue to be number one in segment sales the way HD does after releasing "new and improved" models that need the engine replaced in less than 1K miles, some more than once. Add to that, the other little gotchas like trans fluid transfer, sumping and the restrictive warranty; that's something I wouldn't want a Dyna to be. Granted, not all M8s suffer from the things listed above, but with all the money and resources HD has, two machines with the same problem is too many.

Think of it this way; would an FXR be what it is today if they'd kept on making them?

I have a Dyna, and I can't wait to trade it in on a new Softail in the spring.

Probably not a chance on the dynas making a reappearance. Did the beloved evo come back, Or the FXR? If you are in the hunt for a new bike there are quite a few 17 Dynas around even some LRS

Go ride a new softail,

Pure fact, the Dynas were not selling. Why would Harley continue to make a model that doesn't sell?? The Switchback was a nice try to attract folks to tour but overpriced compared to a Road King or Heritage Softail with bags etc. I like the dyna as well, I've owned several of them. I bought a 16 FXDLS and put a 117 in it. At one time many moons ago the Softails were king, now it's baggers. If those that really like them so much would have continued to buy new ones, they'd probably still be here. Sad but true

it isn't even that. Dynas and Softails were the same size bike. why have two completely separate designs for the same size bike? do people really care how the swingarm is attached and where the shocks/springs are? I doubt it. I think they just hate it when someone moves their cheese.

There are plenty of Dynas on CL with low miles- a good find- especially this time of year.
I got my forever Dyna, so there you go.
