Default Uneven wear on brake pad, should I be concerned?

I just did my first brake job on my 07 Heritage.
Replaced front and rear pads with EBC semi sentered FA400V.
Removed old fluid, (looked nasty) bled out and flushed until all new fluid in lines and MC. Took a short test ride (first ride this year) all is well with good pedal and lever, stops good.
While cleaning up I noticed one of the front pads, I think the inboard pad, had uneven wear. The outside edge was approx. 1/16" thicker than the inside edge.
Is this anything to be concerned about?

Did you carefully extend the pistons and give them a good cleaning before you put new pads in? Looks like you have some hanging up.

No, I just followed the service manual and pressed pistons in with old pads, then installed new pads. The pistons appeared to move freely.
I did apply a little caliper lube around the edge of the pistons, even though the manual did not say to do that.

What about the caliper pins? I always put some grease on the caliper pins so the pads will slide in and out easily and not hang up.

I was doing new tires on mine today and noticed the same thing on my rear pads. 14' fxdf with just over 10k miles. Is your pad wear tapered the other direction on the other pad? Mine is. Brakes work great. I figured it had to do with the way the caliper floats in that mount....its not the most rigid setup.

Yes, I cleaned the pad pins, checked for wear, and put anti seize compound on the pins. Even though the manual doesn't say to do that either.
Maybe if hanging up on the pins was the cause, it will cure it.

No, mine was only tapered on one pad, the outboard pad and both rear pads had even wear. I'm thinking Carl may be right about the pad hanging up on the pins.

yes. either one of the pistons is hanging up (if dual-piston) and/or one of the slide pins (if a sliding caliper) is sticking. if it's the slide pins you may have corrected it with the work you've already done.

It happens and it's quite common , replace pads and ride.

You'll be surprised how it firms up the feel at the lever.

I worked a dealership for years as a mechanic , the demo truck came around every few months , one time they had a softail that had been in several dealership service departments for a soft feeling front brake , none of them were able to find the reason . It was pads that were worn unevenly ,installed a set of new pads and kicked it back out on the demo fleet . Don't spend a lot of time trying to figure this out , it happens and it's common .

Nope, most all pads wear in a "taper." No problem.

Ride safe. And thanks for looking after your bike!
