I’ve heard a couple horror stories, but is it really that bad? I’ve never been but I’d love to ride down. I’m not going only to get harrassed by ********
Been on my bucket list a long time. I would imagine if you travel with a group that knows the language and terrain you won't have any issues beyond the occasional shake down by local cops. I've heard Copper Canyon is an amazing ride.
I have employees that live on or very near the boarder, they not only speak the language, they have family living on the other side, one of them has a wife who crosses weekly for her job. not one of them cross unless they have no choice, this didn't used to be the case, When I lived in So Cal, I would cross all the time (70's), when I moved here to Texas, I crossed on occasion (2000), I wouldn't cross today short of being kidnapped at gunpoint and forced.
The Law down there makes our corrupt politicians look like angels of the church, you cannot not tell who is a bad'r guy, the drug cartels running the place or the cops.
Me and the Mrs are planning a trip to Mexico early April. I was just researching H-D rentals this morning, now I see all the comments on here... There I was, laying in bed explaining that wed be totally fine.. I wont be telling her she was right..

Flying into a resort is fairly safe if this was your plan, Riding across the border is problematic, you will be on the radar of every bad guy in the area.
