why do people buy new bikes when they can get an almost perfect used one?

I didn't read the entire thread so sorry if it's been said before.
A lot of people buy a Harley Davidson Motorcycle for a lot of wrong reasons then they just let them sit in a garage or ride them once or twice a year. That's fine with me.
Those same people will decide to sell after they realize the lifestyle just wasn't for them. A lot of times they will let them go at a very good price to the buyer.
So yes, I would agree somewhat with the OP that there are some really good deals out there on used bikes. I got mine for a song with low mileage.

I have always bought-traded for used bikes since the late 60s, couldn't get enough basket cases. I liked the old iron's lines, last purchase was a 09 xbones w/5000 miles on it and a scratched heritage front fender off flea bay put new rubber on and changed fluids runs like I would hope a brand new one would, should.

A warranty is the best reason to buy new, but it doesn't eliminate potential problems. Seems like Rushmore bikes and newer have more warranty and recall issues than others before them. A friend of mine bought a new '14 Ultra. I bought a used '07 Fat Boy with 11k miles the same year. His bike's been in and out of service more times than I can remember. I haven't had a single problem.

Definitely agree with the above post. I've had good and bad experiences with used vehicles, and my experience has taught me that it doesn't matter if you're buying from f-ing craigslist or a dealer - you shouldn't expect honesty from anyone trying to sell you something.
You just never really know how the previous owner drove/rode it or what they neglected. I've yet to buy a used truck or bike that was maintained to my standards.

I’ve only own two Harley’s and both have been great experiences.Four years ago I bought my first harley and it was a 2007 Road king.It had 8000 miles and in near perfect condition. It was also bone stock. The Indy did a ten thousand mile service and replaced the tires.I put fifteen thousand miles on it in two years. It was a great bike.I traded it in on a new 2016 RGS.They inflated the trade in value to sell me a new bike. Both have been great experiences.Tires and Oil is all I buy.Besides pipes, air cleaners,Seats, tuners.I guess I buy a little more than I think.lol
