Question Backup fuel container for bike

I used to carry a Reda which gave peace of mind but last time I went to use it (helping someone else out, like any other time used) the filler spout fell apart. Was thinking of getting another but wondering about other options. Found one by Primus, largest found is 1.5 litre but designed for camping. Don't see why it wouldn't work but wanted to know who uses what. Never felt the need to carry a full gallon and the room the Reda took up was not so much to my liking.

I have one of those camping ones that fits nicely in the water bottle holder of the saddlebag guard bag thing.

I'll have to look at one of those Primus bottles, nice to have for sure.

I have been reading reviews and some are sketchy but so are people that write reviews sometimes. Not just Primus but other brands as well. One thing I read a couple times was the seal breaking down and leaking. Ethanol breaks stuff down and I never stored gas in my Reda unless it was non ethanol. I always go by my odometer but always like to be prepared. Recently ran my new bike much lower than I normally would wanting to get out of rush hour traffic before I stopped. Still only put in a little over 5.5 gallons but like a buffer.

Check out Roto Pax fuel containers. They are ideal for this application. https://rotopax.com/

Maybe get some Trufuel from Lowes or Home Depot and put it in a Primus. No ethanol.

Started ridin' in '69 and I have ridden in all 50 states and I've never carried spare gasoline on a bike.

I did carry gas one time in my car back in the '74 Oil Embargo when my Dad had terminal cancer and during the 400+ mile trip to see him, only ONE gas station was open.
One can gas can turned over in my trunk and it took a long time to get that odor out of my car, not to mention the potential of an accidental fire!

If you're concerned about running out of gas, do as I do and always carry a 6' piece of siphon hose in your tool kit. Someone will sell you a gallon or two of gas.

I have a Reda as well made to fit the saddle bag. Never have carried it as I've heard they leak.

I have a steel thermos that only holds 2.5 cups, but it has a screw on lid. I've never ran a bike outta gas but have helped out a few who have. I don't always carry it but it doesn't leak and requires no funnel or spout. I figure 2 1/2 cups will get me down the road about 6.25 miles. If I am somewhere further away than 6.25 miles from a gas station and run out of gas.....my dumbass deserves to walk.

Look @ La Rosa fuel bottles. I'd carry one on my Sporty ( w/carry pouch) or carry 2 ( just the bottles) in my saddle bags with my Dyna

Fits on the frame

Carry in the bags
