Default What is the logical "upgrade" from a Sportster???

I love the Sportsters and have had many, but have only had one larger frame HD which was a Duece. I really like to ride the sportys pretty aggressively, and wanting to know with of the larger frame models have a similar sporting geometry and lane splitting, peg dragging ability that the sportys do. The only draw back to the Sporty is that I feel just a bit cramped on longer rides. Wouldn't hurt to enjoy the power bump in the larger frame models either.

Thanks!! -Doug

I went from a '14 Sportster 48 to my '17 Street Glide and couldn't be happier. For such a big bike the SG is actually pretty nimble.

No such thing as an "upgrade" even though most call it that. It's just a change of style etc.

I have a 1200 Sportster and Fatboy. They handle enough alike for me. The Fatboy isn't quite as maneuverable as the Sportster but bad. When I first saw the 18 Fatboys I fell in love again especially since the Dynas have been canned from Harleys lineup.

The next step for you would be a dyna if you want to maintain a narrow profile for splitting lanes, it has more power and can be very sporty and is bigger than a sporty but smaller than a bagger obvi .

^this^

not an "upgrade" and not "moving up". they are different types of bikes. your next bike is just your next bike.

test them all, there's no "logical" next. there's the next bike you choose.

Just upgraded a couple of months ago from a 2016 Sportster Iron 883 to the new M8 Softail Street Bob. Loved my Sporty, but wanted the extra power and a bit more room.

I commuted everyday with the Sportster, most of it splitting in heavy tight traffic. The Sportster did this easy, so that was my main concern when getting the Street Bob. No worries, Street Bob splits as easy, if not easier than the Sportster did!

Sporty style riding is not lost either, the new frame and monoshock suspension (plus upgraded fork internals) means you can still ride aggressively and scrape pegs.

Oh, and the power bump is awesome!!

How about that new Fatbob? Other than that, a Dyna lowrider. But that Fatbob with the 114” looks incredible. Also comes with 10.5/1 compression. With a cam change, that thing would be a drag racer!

Fatbob. If handling is what your looking for. Personally I'd test drive a few and choose the one I liked best!! Any new bike is a big investment, to big to leave to chance or rely on our suggestions!! When the smoke clears you may find you prefer a bagger, lol, who knows??
