RE: How did you get interested in motorcycles?
1970 I was 10 and all the kids had lawn mower mini bikes........
Dad came home with one for me to fix up......it was ratty......no brakes, hard tail........but I rode the wheels off that thing I loved it. Even when the throttle broke I used string on the butterfly to ride.
I lived across from 35 acres of woods......all the kids ride there.
Progressed into motocross and hare scrambles by 1973

RE: How did you get interested in motorcycles?
I was raised to be a "car guy" since I was a baby. I think being into motorcycles just goes hand in hand with that. My grandfather rode a '45 knuckle when he got out of the Army after WWII until someone pulled out in front of him and he mated his knuckle to the door of their car. My dad had to sell his maroon'65 FLH policebike to pay for my birth in 1982. I hope, someday, that I can afford to buy my dad another bike to replace the one he sold for me. Even though, when I was growing up, he always told me ,"stay on four wheels, son," he always has to take my bike out for a spin any time I visit him. I hear him off in the distance when he gets on the throttle! He always putts away so nice and easy like I don't know he's out there hotroddin' it! Hehehe. So, I'm a third generation Harley rider. My bike was an obsession long before I ever evenbought it.

RE: How did you get interested in motorcycles?
I started when I was young, a friends mini bike, as stated earlier a lawn mower engine. Then I rode friends dirt bikes. At 17 a friend bought a 650 BSA. He did not ride much and basically gave me the keys. My mom was scared of bikes so I could never have one at home.
At 18 I traded my VW for a HD. In those young days I would travel about 6-7 months a year.

My dad rode an Indian Chief when he was 17 or 18 years old Here he is in June 1944
Also, his sister rode with her then boy friend, later husband
When I was about 8, my uncle, who still had his old Indian gave me a ride and I was adicted.
When Iwas about 10 years old,dad helped me build mini bikes with old garbage picked lawn mower engines. By the time I was 16, he helped me fix up a 1965 BSA Hornet. By 18 it was a brand new Sportster (1972 XLCH). Dad was always supportive, much to mom's shagrin.

RE: How did you get interested in motorcycles?
For me it all started with a ride on a friend's Rupp mini-bike when I was about 9 years old. Some of my friends had bigger mini-bikes and small motorcycles like Honda 70's or SL175's. A couple WWII vets in my neighborhood had Harley Panheads all blinged out with conchos and leather frills and I thought those guys were just the textbook picture of cool (crew cuts, sunglasses, leather and denim vests, tatoos, and a big old cigars stuck in their mouths when they rode.) Then along came "On Any Sunday" and being I was a bigtime Steve McQueen fan (still am) things just went to fever pitch. Over the years it's been dirt bikes and street bikes, a little racing, and alot of great times. Stopped riding back in '93 to raise my kids and keep 'em fed and healthy. Last year I bought my first Harley. It's been a long road, but damn well worth it.
