Ultra. I take my pack off unless I'm going somewhere and need room to pack stuff. I look having the lowers too.

@jshopes - I sat on them both, the UG is definitely higher and heavier. Maybe the mustang seat added some height.

@kebo - I'd like to go as low as possible, why not the 3" shocks? Ideally I would lower the shocks and lower the seat of possible.

im 5'9" and I have trouble reaching the ground on the UG.

I dont know, the bikes are essentially the same aside from add ons. The frames, tins, fairings....its all the same. I think they feel about the same. The seat combined with the suspension could add up to a big difference. That ultra is basicly the same as a street glide but with taller suspension, twin cooling, lowers, and cb.

The flhxs is 810lbs dry
the flhtk is 896lbs dry

That's a pretty big difference.

85lbs for tour pack, lowers, liquid cooling, some trim....ill bet that tour pack is half that weight difference and its gone.

Not sure if this will be a commuter or distance bike or combo of both. I had a 14 UL and moved to A Road Glide Ultra. Weight wise, should be close if you dont have the tourpak. I say go with lower cut seat first, then suspension. It will feel heavier because you are not able to flat foot the UL. I am 5'10 and when i swap out my stock seat for the Road Zepplin seat on long trips, i tip toe at stops; and bike feels heavier at stops because of it.

I ride a friend's SGS whenever he feels something is wrong with it. Rides nice, is lower but a little more harsh on bumps. Would rather ride my Wide Glide for in town commutes, than my RGU due to weight and height. Hoped that helped somewhat.

That's fair, so still a 40 lb. Difference and certainly higher. I can live with the weight, the height is tough as it'll be dangerous if I can't perfectly touch the ground.

Just came across this that claims it'll lower the bike 3", reviews are great.

Any thoughts?

Im with roro, id do seat then suspension. A narrower nose might help out some. A corbin or c&c will drop you an inch from stock but we dont know which model mustang that is, it could lower you but i kind of doubt it.

I was as interested in doing this for my WG. My concern is angle for suspension articulating changes, shallower if my geometry is right. As simple, non scientific as I see it, more force to articulate suspension translate to harsher felt ride. Now 1" drop with the blocks, not sure if its drastic enough to effect suspension. Maybe someone whose done it could chime in.

i was researching a 2" drop for my 14" shocks. Too much for my application.

I had a set of progressive 944s on my last bike, they may move over to my flhtk but i havent decided yet. I also had a corbin solo. Between the 2 i felt pretty low on my king. It wasnt out of necessity though im 6ft1.
