Thanks guys, you've given me a lot to think about.
i think I'm gonna tell the dealer to leave the original 4" shocks on and give me the $500 instead. I'm going to buy this https://hogworkz.com/harley-lowering-kit.html and lower the rear end 2 inches. If that's not enough I'll look into changing the seat.
Dude, trust what these guys are tell you. Do the seat first. Trust us. You will be happy possibly with just the seat. A lowered rear end, but a harsh ride, will get old real quick. A seat change is easy. Suspension isnt.
Thing is, looking at the pictures, I believe the mustang seat that's on the bike is the low rider model which is supposed to drop an inch off the stock. Can I have the mustang seat modified? Or would I be better off buying a stock seat off eBay and sending it off?
Check your local dealer and see if they have a Ultra low and check that seat or bike. The seat is cut narrower in front and contoured to sit like a saddle. Again, most dealers have demo seats you can try. Its free unless you dont return it. Nothing but a phillips 2 screws and a swap to check.
I have 2 different mustang seats for my WG. My touring seat is wider and more padding. My fastback seat is cut much narrower and angled back, so i sit much lower. Seats make huge difference. When i got my Ultra then my RGU, my WG got slammed and became my commuter.
