MB Stage 3 114 - reliability change from stock?
I'm looking at doing a stage 3 on a new Low Rider at delivery. I am wondering if there is any reliability risk on doing this vs. a stock 114 motor? I remember the 117 kits for the 110's had very thin walls at the base to fit the 110 cases, and was a long term reliability concern. Never actually heard of any failures, but still...

Biggest issue I’ve heard is to make sure to completely measure all parts of the kit before installing. Supposedly they’ve had some significantly out of spec pistons supplied. Done right I’ve heard no complaints.
Make sure you throw a leg over a Sport Glide, Heritage 114, and FXDR 114 also....just a thought.

Concerning reliability, if the dealer installs it, isn't it under warranty?

Yes, it'll be under warranty, but I'd still prefer not to have my motor blow up at an inopportune moment...

Nice thing about the Heritage is you can get the 114 stock. Easy to make it look like a Slim too. Throw a stage 2 cam in it and call it a day.
But totally get lusting after a LR.
I split my week riding daily between my stage 2 Heritage 114 (11,000 miles) and my ‘09 Fatbob with just a stage 1 96” (40,000 miles). I love the 114 power and feel, but I also never regret a minute I’m on the 96”. Maybe it’s because I have both, but I also think it’s because the Dyna just feels perfect on it’s own terms. Still plenty of power.
Guess I’m saying if you really miss your LRS, maybe it’s still the right choice to scratch that itch.
