Default Road King Buffeting solved

This may be a little long but a lot of info here. Hopefully I’ll help someone since it took me a few years to finally get it. I have a 2016 Road King. I am 6’ tall, 200 pounds, I wear 36/32 jeans and 36/30 dress slacks to give you a size reference. I wear a Bell Pit Boss half helmet and I’m on a Sundowner seat for long rides or highway riding. I have a Mustang solo seat for around town, no windshield. First thing I did was replace the stock windshield because the top edge was in my line of sight. I got a 16” recurve to replace it and was more than happy with the new view. Buffeting was still there. I added the triple tree deflector, maybe a very minor improvement, couldn’t really tell. Added vented Lowers from HD with glove box. Will never own a bike without them and will never take them off. Major improvement in riding comfort but the buffeting was still there. Added JES Customs (black) fork deflectors that fit with lowers and made a big difference –notice you almost can’t tell they are there unless you look twice. Much better, but still not perfect. At this point no turbulent air is coming from underneath, just smooth wind. But when I go 2 up, she was still getting blasted directly in the face from the air going just off the top of my helmet directly down on her from above and a little to the top sides. 4 windshields and all different sizes later, I went with a 20” Freedom Shield. It’s the same height as the factory but since I’m an inch or so taller on the sundowner, I see over it just right and it passed the 50’ test in a parking lot. At standard traffic safe distance to the car in front of me I can see the pavement below the car over the shield. His shields are much thicker all over, and wider at the top causing the air to go over us higher, smoother, and wider with no turbulence. It’s a smooth enjoyable breeze now. – Safe riding

You aren’t kidding about lowers, now that I’ve had them, I’ll never have one without them.

That's a clean, smooth looking ride right there 16King...! I like those lowers a lot, the front view of the bike looks like it was meant that way, nice fit - good looking ride.
