Question LRS Windshield on a Road King

Looking for opinions from those who have an LRS windshield on their Road King.

My 17" arrived last night. I left the office early today and installed. I took the bike out on the highway and made certain that I was sitting in a normal position (not straight up). The full blast of the wind hits the top inch or more of my helmet at 60 MPH. If I duck just a little ... no wind.

I know it's a motorcycle and I know there is wind. I just want to make certain that I am gaining the full benefit of the flip windshield. I am hopeful that others might elaborate on their height, the height of the windshield, and their experiences with the wind on their helmet. Going down the highway, my natural line-of-sight is about three inches over the top of the shield. My gut tells me that 19" is a tad tall and 17" is a tad short.

I've watched the LRS videos and followed their instructions. I am 5'8" with a Sundowner seat, a 29" inseam and a normal torso (not extraordinarily long or short).

Thanks for the help!

i'm running the 19" and don't have any wind issues. I look over top even with a C&C solo which is pretty low. I'm about 5'11" but not long in the torso at all. Love the shield it throws the wind up great.

I run the 19", I'm 5'9, using a sundowner also. I wear a FF and the 19" LRS is a huge improvement over the 15 or 16 that I was using before it. I probably could have gone with a 21" since I look well over the top of the 19"

I have a Clearview 24" with recurve and dig it big time. But I don't mind looking through a shield.

I have both a 17" and a 19" LRS. 5'9", 30" inseam, Sundowner seat. The 17" let too much wind hit my head. The 19" lets just a little hit the top of my helmet. Wife said that she is in calm air behind me. I can see over the top of the 19" just fine and have the medium tint.

Took a pic of the fit last night ... using Photoshop, I was able to extend a horizontal line from the top of the shield. As you can see the top of the shield hits between my upper lip and the tip of my nose. In this pic, I am intentionally relaxed and not sitting upright. This is as slumped as I would ever be on this bike. Also, this is shot without the backrest ... the backrest forces me to sit a little taller. I will try to capture another photo later today.

Thanks for al of the help!

Looks to me like you'd be fine with a 19. I'm 5-10 and I look way over mine, I can feel the "ceiling" right above my head.

I just replaced my stock 21" with the 19" LRS. I'm 6' with 34 inseam and seemed like I was always looking right where the stock shield ended. The 19" LRS gives me alot better view and the wind is still just above my head. Only thing is wish I would have bought clear instead of light tint, just doesn't look as good on on light colored bike. Definitely a great sheild. Scott

I think the 17 is a little short for you. The backrest will definitely make you sit more upright. However LRS says with the recurve you can get by with a shorter shield, guess not huh. I'm thinking the 19 may be better for you. My stocker on my 11 RKC is 21" from the top of the headlight. LRS says they measure from the top of the headlight too, not the cutout.
