Default 12-14” New Handlebars 2017 Road King

Bike is in storage and have to spend $xxx to either store or get work done.

Thinking about new bars on my 2017 Road King.

So so here’s the question and answers from two different dealers. Do I need to get new wiring if I go 12”? I was told no from buddies and a dealership and then told yes from the dealership that I’m storing it at. If I do need new wiring, I might as well get the 14” bars.

Secondly, what would you pay to get this work done? I feel that Harley is just jacking the quotes up and they just seems so overpriced..

Love to hear thoughts and even recommendations on type of bars to look at. Photos of your bars on bikes.

Thoughts?

SP

PS I know I know I don’t need to be told but I’m sure there are threads out there already on this subject but I am an idiot when it comes to the search engine on this site we’re when I do search I can never find what I’m looking for. So please keep the comments to the subject.

Thank you you all in advance to your advise and thoughts on this subject. They are all very much appreciated.

10" yaffes (i hate them) and stock wiring. Factory 47 has a video on youtube on how to do your wiring to work up to 14s with stock wiring. The dealer just wants your money.

Default That’s what I was afraid of...

Problem is I’m not installing them. So I’m kinda at the mercy but at least going in with knowledge gives me an edge to let them know that I know what’s up.. I don’t mind being taken but I don’t want to be taken for a ride.

Are these too tall for you? They are(to the best of my knowledge, they were on the bike when I bought it)LA Choppers ‘Nice Curves’ 14” apes. At least I think they’re 14”, as I measured that length from the top of the curve to the lower corner where they straighten out.

I’m 6ft 1in and broadly-built, and these bars are just about perfect for me. My hands are just below my shoulders, they’re wide enough to have decent leverage if I need to toss the bike round a little, and they look really cool.

Nevermind the part of my comment about the f47 video. Its not super relevant since its a streetglide but id imagine some of the wiring is similar.

You asked how much I'd pay, $0.
I just did my own. I bought the wire extensions some solder heat shrink and crimp pins. I raised the bars 4" and putting the wires in the bars had to add a foot of wire.
