Don't buy from Americanhardbag.com
Was doing an audio install, needed a solution for mounting tweeters -- found this from American hard bag (https://www.americanhardbag.com/prod...t-part-rgtwmpk). $50 plus shipping - $58 if you can believe it for a tiny piece of plastic, but I figured, ok - I can't find another drop-in solution (ultimately I fabricated my own ). The tweeter brackets didn't fit my tweeters, despite being hertz branded as advertised.
Now, there's no simple return policy spelled out at amercianhardbag.com -- so I sent an email. After receiving no response, I called them. The owner got on the phone, I said I wanted a refund because they didn't fit, and he asked me what model of bike I had. I said, that doesn't matter, it's not model specific -- the tweeters don't fit the plastic -- period. Still, he hounded me to tell me the model. It's a Street Glide I said. Well -- he says the bracket is only for road glides.
That's when I started to lose it. It's not the model that matters, I told him -- the tweeter doesn't fit the plastic. Ok, ok -- send the part here (my shipping costs not his) and we'll refund you. No RMA, no nothing. OK, I'll send it I says.
"And next time", he says to me, "read the listing and buy the right part for your bike" -- "and we also have a 10% restocking fee".
Well.......I can tell you, I kind of completely lost it at that point, screaming at him and asking him where on the website he had a restocking charge spelled out and again telling him that it's NOT bike specific -- and also telling him that I would tell this story at the forums I'm on, so others should know just how tough it is to return something -- and get your money back.
So that's the story. I'd avoid this guy in future. $50 for a tiny piece of crap plastic, and he doesn't want to give returns, no matter what. He's got the piece back already, haven't seen a credit yet either .............

I understand what you described and logically you would think it doesn't matter but since it clearly states what its intended purpose it was designed for, its failure to work for your application is on you (also says what tweaters to use, bet you didnt "This bracket kit is designed specifically for the Hertz MPK165.3 component speaker set") You would have been better off reselling it than expecting a return credit.

In addition to saying it's for the Road Glide, their website also says: "This bracket kit is designed specifically for the Hertz MPK165.3 component speaker set." You said yours is "Hertz branded" but didn't say that it was this specific speaker set. Is it possible that you have a different speaker set? - One that is made to fit a Street Glide, rather than a Road Glide?
Don't like to see a small business slammed like this if it was actually a mistake on your part.

.. that specifically states it's for a machine other than the one you'd attempt to install it on ?
........
........ sorry the 'thingy' didn't work for ya ... but ...
..... never scream over the phone, it accomplishes nuthin good
fwiw: that's $50 for two (2) tiny pcs of 'crap plastic', custom molded to fit a Rushmore Road Glide. From what little I know, i'm thinkin' that the RG has a completely different fairing & speaker enclosure than yer sheep Glide which could cause the part to mount quite differently.
