Default What is wrong with chrome

2019 Street Glide Standard Just added the driving lights last week.

Don’t get me wrong I think some of the blacked out motorcycles look really good but I am just old school, I like the traditional look of chrome. I also think the black is a fad that will run its course and the chrome will never get old. Don’t beat me up on that it’s just my opinion. I bought a new Street Glide Standard just for that reason, would have liked the 114 engine but I sacrificed that for the chrome, and saved quite a bit of money also.
So to the point, have been considering having my stock enforcer wheels chromed, haved looked at some aftermarket wheels but seems to me that there is less selection in chrome in that area also, not to mention the prices.
Anyway just wondering am I among the minority that still loves the look of chrome? There is just something about a H-D that has a nice set of shiny chrome wheels that make me smile.

You are not a minority....clean, classy and chromed is a nice look for a Harley.

Or, maybe I am just an old ****er.

I agree with you. I upgraded to my latest bike and I have a lot of chrome to clean. I really don't care for the new bike all blacked out either but to each his own. HD is trying to hit some j=kind of nerve to get the young kids attentions and start buying. What I see is and don't think is right is this if you take a new CVO with blacked out wheels and all the rest of a new CVO that figure like a 2015 CVO (both touring) seems to me you HD is making more $$ now on the same bike due to a more blacked out look. Its all about hitting the right demographics today and making money. The older generation was the chrome one and the younger generation is the blacked out look. just my opinion of course.

What's wrong with not worrying about what other people think?

Exchange your wheels for chrome ones. There’s many services now that do this. Impress Plating, ***** Shiny, Sport Chrome, etc.

I like black and I like chrome. What I don’t like is the bike that has every single chrome cover that’s made for it installed. Too much looks like ****, especially the Kuryakyn plastic crap.

The chrome process costs big money in order to do it right. The MoCo has been doing a good job on chrome for decades, and I perfer a chrome bike but I also get the appeal of the blacked out look.

Easier to clean (just dry the water off to prevent spotting) and the kids (I’m 32) like it.

I believe most importantly is the profit margin on these bikes. They can sell a SGS with painted black parts for $$$$ more than a regular SG and people will buy them. It’s a win-win for the bean counters.
