Default M8 Oil migration transmission to inner primary

To all, I ride with a bunch of guys and we all without exception have this issue. Most drastic was 24ozs after 950mile one day ride from zDaytona FL to West Chester PA. Took to dealer and had an appt with Harley field tech who installed vent kit on inner primary which required pulling side apart drilling inner primary and reassembling. This action was the result of getting Harley off their *** and doing something after monitoring for 10,000 miles. They tried a sling (washer) for a simpler name on Tran shaft from trans to clutch plate that did nothing. This migration occurs more drastically on riders who do long distance high speed driving. Harley knows they have an issue but to my knowledge have not issued a recall or bulliten to public. I have put 1000 miles since repair in November (winter hit) seems to be okay. Will see what. Happens on next long distance high speed trip. Keep eye on your Trans Fluid. I lost 24ozs and it only holds 28-30oz

I feel for you folks that are having this issue. I check my fluid level in the trans every couple months and have yet to find it lower than where it was when I filled it.

Unfortunately the moco has no desire to fix this issue. They’re banking on most folks not even giving thought to check their fluid levels. When someone has a transmission lock up the moco will find a way to deny the warranty claim. Right now the moco is losing money, they need to do everything they can to keep money in their pockets. A recall would cost them a fortune as this issue plaques all 17 and newer touring models. There is a fat clutch push rod available from the aftermarket that fixes the transfer

Interesting 1st post, welcome to the forum. Are you going to keep us informed? Did you transfer fluids during the ride home? Shame you didn't register for an Iron Butt award and go 50 more miles in that one day trip.

I wonder what would happen if you left your Trans fill cap a little loose ,so it could not billed up any psi .

It’s not pressure from trans causing it it is vacum from primary that’s why they are venting primary as fix
