Since HD has refused to warrant my speedometer, which I cannot read due to fogging up, I have decided to boycott buying anything from them. Unless there is no other choice.

I'm not sure but I bought a WIX filter that looks EXACTLY like the S&S filter, if that's any help.

There speedometer has been fogging forever. Get over it. Stick to their black filter, most OEM parts, Formual + for transmission and primary.

No one makes a superior part for that.

Or buy a Yamaha.

S & S doesn't make filters, so hard to say whose they really are. I suppose you could ask them and then decide. I use the cleanable mesh type, more expensive initially, but I can see what's in it and I know it's a good one.

They have not been fogging up to the extent the late model Softails are. Hard to find someone who isn't having an issue once they get a few miles on it. And thanks for the "get over it and buy a Yamaha comments" Are you always an *** or just having a bad day?

Good day. And not an ***...Ha. And it's true, if you don't mind made in Japan, Yamaha makes good stuff.

I had a Yamaha Vstar 1100 Custom that never missed a beat forever. My Harley has had all kinds of little problems from simple lack of quality control in the electricial small parts. Nothing big but if you depended on Harley, they would have ripped you off good in the repairs.

Not sure what you mean that heads are worst now then in the past. Mine also fogged up especially if driven in the rain and then next day in the sun. It actually appeared to be sealed. Mine has space under , so I hot melt glued a small lid off a long bottle from a scrip. Drilled thru it with a 1/8 drill. I keep it filled with decisand in a small cloth sack from the craft store.

Usually last a while and my lens is pretty clear. I also have a 9 volt remote under there with a matching button like the reset, so i need to go under there ever year or so.

Harley reaks made in USA like a Chevy or Ford, so I am happy with it.

I have been using S & S oil filters for years.
The reason being..one the the engineers told me the filters were made by WIX..I was sold.

FWIW I understand the boycott passion.

Yet, if I understand, OP's bike is in a warranty period.

I'd replaced with a Harley oil filter to eliminate one reason for an engine failure warranty denial.

If off warranty, well, see above for SS & Wix.

Good luck.
