Thinking about a lift and want to know what you folks think about the smaller frame style lifts for general maintenance/repair and for detailing? What I mean by frame style lifts are like those made by J&S and Pitt Bull. I have limited space at the moment so a full size lift is out of the question. Besides in a pinch I could use my buddy HF lift.

`Nother vote for J&S, pricey but worth every penny. I wouldn't trust a HF jack or one that was modified to work.

My father and I both own harbor freight lifts (the style of the j&s one you mentioned). We both have street glides and both of those bike were on those lifts in the air (tires off the ground) for the whole New England cold winter. Granted we dropped them to the safety stopper and then pumped the jacked a small amount to have equal pressure on both the hydraulic ram and the metal safety system. The jacks have stabilizing feet you adjust down which sturdies up the whole thing. I would not hesitate to do this again. People **** on them but I have zero issues. I’m a fan of buying the right tools and not cheating out but after researching I decided to take the chance.

have a HF jack and it has been used for years with my street glide, no issues at all and I've used it hundreds of times (cleaning mostly, but also to swap both wheels and maintenance). I'm sure the J&S is way better but at the time a J&S wasn't in the budget.

I have the Sears aluminum (the yellow one). Works great and since it’s aluminum it’s super easy to move around.

I have a new J&S Jack and I've used it a few times already and I really like it.
