I was just at the local HD dealer with a gift card and looking at some shirts . And I can believe how much they want for a shirt or a hoodie with a cheap *** heat transfer sticker on it .
The only way to buy anything off a rack , would be to wait and see what hits the 50% OFF rack . And then stick to the nice embroidered stuff . The rest is just super over priced crap !

 

Are we talking about the dealer made shirts or the ones from Harley themselves? The harley stuff is usually pretty damn good, I have shirts that are 10+ years old and still get worn and all the graphics are still there. It is pricey though, I usually buy my stuff during 50% off sales or I'll pay full price for a shirt in a location I'm visiting.

 

Most HD shirts are made by a company called Stratton right here in the state Misery. These are the shirts sold at different biking events all over the place. Brake cleaner takes that transfer crap off. Just melts it and makes a mess. Found this out by accident.
Now the shirts the dealer sells may be different, but i don't buy any shirts at a dealership. Most are plastered with a bunch off goofy ****.

 

Funny, I wore a fairly new HD long sleeve shirt yesterday, and when I took it off last night I was checking and admiring the embroidering. Three areas on front, one on sleeve, and large one on back (pics below). Paid $70 for this (regular price), and to me it was worth it, not much Harley tax on a really nice shirt, compared to lots of other stuff. They do make some nice stuff, but you have to pay attention and look for it. MIL sent me a HD shirt for Christmas, and only printing was Harley-Davidson screen printed on the back. Shirt is just OK, nowhere as nice as the first mentioned, and she probably paid too much for it.

 

Just add this under the Harley Saving Money Thread. Same $hit different product.

 

man the tee shirts i get from around here are pure crap. last Christmas my wifey bought me a killer looking fleese zip up light jacket ( sweater) and i have worn it twice and the silk screening is cracking all over the place. it looks like crap now but my embroidered shirts are fine i refuse to buy anymore 75 dollar tee shirts made in china

 

I have found the HD embroidered shirts to be well made and will last a long time. They are usually heavy cotton, and the short sleeve ones are hot. I have tried the HD wicking shirts and found them hotter than cotton, like wearing plastic(they are synthetic). I usually don't buy the printed shirts/T shirts as the print will not last. I also have several Columbia shirts I wear during the summer, sun and heat protection.

 

So. Much. Whining.

 

I bought my Harley in 2011. I was able to buy several heavy shirts made in the USA that wear and launder well, over the next 2-3 years. Gradually the shirts got thinner, and smaller, and made overseas. I never buy them anymore.

 

When I bought my 08, they threw in a dealer t-shirt. Wasn’t that bad of a quality print. When I bought my 19, the dealer gave me a whopping $30 coupon toward any shirt. The cheapest f’n shirt there started at $32 and was pretty much shitty quality. Personally, I don’t buy H-D clothing. I have received a few t-shirts as gifts over the years though.
