H-D Dealership Owner Convicted of Sex Crime. Franchise Jeopardy?
This just in. Todd Erdmann, the owner of our local Taj Mahal H-D
dealership (Thunder Mountain) and its across a parking lot Hooters
restaurant, plead guilty to a misdemeanor sexual assault charge in
exchange for prosecutors dropping a felony sexual assault charge. He was
sentenced to 30 days of jail time to be served through a work release
program, register as a sex offender, complete five years of supervised
sex offender probation, pay a monthly supervision fee and have limited
contact with his children and grandchilden. And, of course, Todd must
not have any contact with the victim (a Hooters employee). It would
appear that 'ole Todd took the meaning of Hooters owner to an
inappropriate level. You can see the article here, although the local
newspaper does try to firewall it:

I bring this up because I'm wondering if the H-D (and Hooters)
motherships might pull his franchises because of this act. After all,
there was a recent event where H-D pulled a franchise from an owner that
posted racist messages on social media. Since Todd was actually
convicted of a fairly sleazy crime, this seems to rise to a level well
above an admittedly thoughtless/insensitive/racist social media post.
So, what about this?

Some additional info:Following this incident, the waitress called police and an investigation began. An investigator had the waitress call Erdmann, and during this conversation he reportedly apologized, claiming to be drunk at the time.
Erdmann is listed as CEO of Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson, which neighbors the Hooters restaurant where the assault took place. In court, he announced that he will be forced to sell the motorcycle dealership, due to his conviction.
