Default Another dealer closing in Florida

I didn’t see it posted here, but Stormy Hill H-D in Clermont, Florida is closing on March 27. Really hate to see them go. Small dealership with employees that have been there a long time and became my friends. I’ll miss them.

I have visited at least a dozen dealerships in Florida but not familiar with that one. Always sad to see one go.

I've been there, a very small dealership not too far from Leesburg. Sorry to hear of another one closing.

Bad news. Stormy Hill in Clermont and Gator Harley in Leesburg are owned by the same folks. Hope Gator is OK. Nice folks there. I have been concerned about them lately. Place is like a ghost town most of the time and I am afraid they may go under also.
Thee used bike inventory has dropped dramatically lately. Parking lot used to be crammed full of bikes. Now a days not more than a couple of dozen.

Cool dealer back in 05. They gave me good deals On parts when I got my Train no one else could match. Gator is a big part of Leesburg Bikefest. Always music and vendors Good place to relax and watch the show. But it takes more than one weekend a year to make it these days.

Sad to hear that. Hate the thoughts if this is due to moco pushing some edict they have to follow. If it's due to lack of customers... too bad more didn't walk through the doors and buy something. Our local dealer has something going on every weekend, they are friendly, and always seem to have people coming and going. Customers that is, not employees!! Hope like hell ours never closes.

another case of no palace, no allotment?

Back in the 90's Chrysler did that, you must upgrade to a facility plan that conforms with our 10 year plan..... and many dealers, including the one where I bought my first car in 1976, that had been in business since the 1920's looked around, saw that their kids and grandkids didn't want to take the business over, and that the land was worth more than the business and the owners said screw it... there is now a Walgreens there.

(same thing is going on in AM radio right now, one NY AM just sold its transmitter site for 50 Million, the station as a business was worth maybe 750K)

i really hope gator doesn't fold. not really inclined to have to do business with orlando harley ever again. I bought 3 new harleys from orlando harley (I-4 location) over the years. Gave them my business and referred a few friends there who also bought bikes. The last time I went there to give them a chance to get my business again on another bike purchase, all they wanted to do was sell me a milwaukee 8. I explained why i wanted another 2015 and not a 2017 (this was in 17) and it was like talking to a brick wall. What's funny is they knew who I was from buying from them over the previous decade and being a regular customer and knew that if I was there to buy a bike, as long as they could get me the bike I wanted, I was a definite buyer. Despite the history, they were only interested in selling me a brand new bike. I politely told them to pound sand and that I wouldn't be back and haven't been since. I ended up working with Treasure Coast Harley down in Stuart, FL. Got a killer deal on a 15 FLHX that was replacing one I had that got totaled. Treasure Coast trailered the bike 3 hours one way to my house and dropped if off to me the next day after purchase for free. With Stormy Hill in Clermont closing, I think that Gator in Leesburg and Seminole in Sanford are the only other central Florida dealerships other than the 3 in Orlando.
