Default Does anyone use tires OTHER THEN Dunlop?

Im curious as to what your thoughts are on handling issues of the factory dunlops and if anyone has gone with other brands and how they handled?

I've run Avon's and they've been good.

I'm interested as well in this one.
I have an older (old school) friend with an Electroglide that states he's going with Metzlers next go around.. Apparently for wear quality, etc... But he also relayed to me that "you'll hate 'em for the first 500 miles until they break in". Not very clear which ones of their fifty gazillion tires out there are appropriate though.

I have never ran anything except Dunlops. I get 10,000 out of a rear and 20,000 out of a front. We have ridden many miles in the rain, and some in the snow, and and handling has never been an issue.

I will be interested to see where this goes, as I am always up for change if I can see a benefit.

Regards,

Bill

I can't give you my personal opinion, because I still have my stock Dunlops, but many of my riding buddies run Avons. They love 'em

A buddy just put Metz on his and swares he we never switch. Great cornering and long wearing. this is what prompted my question. I have heard alot of good talk about Avons as well.

I used Avons but just switched to Metzler and think they pretty good tires. Seem to stick to the road better. I also use a higher pressure than I did with Avons. Tim

I switched to Metzelers on my last bike and that's the only tire I will buy in the future. My new HD has Dunlops, but I'm putting Metzelers on it in the spring. The Metzelers I had didn't require any special break-in, they stuck like glue from day one. They also handle rain grooves and road irregularites better than anything else I've ridden.
