Fog vs running lights?? Yellow vs White?
When did "fog" lights become white instead of yellow. I remember a buddies truck that had running lights (white) and fog lights (yellow). The yellow went through the fog. The white just seemed to reflect back. Now it seems as all lights are labeled as fog or running, and both are white. They are mounted at the same low height.
I mounted "fog" lights as an extra pair of lights to illuminate the road better, and notably, for spotting vermin on the side of the highway. I have them wired to stay on while my headlight is on high beam so I can throw an obnoxious amount of light. Riding in fog per se is such a rare event for me it wouldn't be worth the expense of adding these lights.
I swapped out the white “fog” lamps on my car for yellow some years back. I’m not sure I see better but I think it may make me more visible in traffic.
I haven’t found yellow LED lamps to replace the passing lamps in my bike yet. I might try some tint film.

Not sure about all states, but Texas defines fog lamps as the light mounted at specific heights but does not specify color.
Kinda of like calling it a Cresent wrench, a Skil saw, or Kleenex.
Lamps for fog are yellow, but fog lamps are the low mounted lights..
Running lights are the headlamps and marker lights, but don't use the taillights. So they aren't legal during nighttime hours.

I installed amber fog lights (passing lights) years ago and drastically cut down on the number of drivers either pulling out in front of me or turning left in front of me. They are a great safety issue in my opinion. Other riders have mentioned that they can see me coming from quite a ways away.
