Excuse my posting thus here but I don’t get views in the mech forum. I’m not sure what the issue is here. My Breakout rides and decelerates normally. The return is adjusted properly, I believe. When I release, the throttle returns to the normal starting position.
This doesn’t happen on its own, but the throttle is able to turn the wrong direction past the starting point by about a quarter turn (logo faces the sky). When I open the housing, there is too much slack in one of the cables.
The ride isn’t affected per se but the fact this exists bothers me. Please advise. The throttle should not be able to be turned the wrong way past the starting position like this.
Throttles on bikes with cruise control roll forward about an 1/8th of a turn to cancel cruise control. Roll forward on cruise and non cruise bikes also turns EITMS on and off. Look at your owner’s manual for the specifics but a short bump forward cancels cruise and I think 3 seconds does EITMS. I’m not sure of the models that have EITMS, was originally touring I think but they may use the throttles for other models.
The plastic inner sleeve inside the throttle grip may have a worn stop tab that's permitting that to happen. It's replaceable.
Okay thanks for the heads up. Wasn’t aware there was such a piece. Hope it’s
something simple and cheap like that. I’ll open it back up and look.

Thanks, but I’m not sure that’s the case here. It goes forward quite a bit (quarter turn) and stays there unless I turn it back. No snap back or anything.
Thanks for all the advice, folks. Must be something wrong with the tab. The adjustment of both cables has been tinkered with in both directions with no effect on what I’ve described.
