Default Battery warranty from online retailers.

I'm curious about how warranty issues are handled with a battery purchased online. I've always purchased batteries locally just because the online route seems like a huge hassle if you actually have an issue after some time. If the battery is bad when recurved, that seems simple enough but I'm wondering about a battery that goes bad after a few months. How do they handle it?

Suggest you contact the online retailer you might purchase a battery from and ask them.

My initial though is, isn't it a manufacturers warranty? Wouldn't you have to handle warranty issues with the manufacturer? The retailer, if they are an authorized retailer, generally handles that warranty work for you, but the warranty is through the manufacturer. Be cautious of buying some products through online retailers as some manufacturers will not honor ANY warranty if the item was not purchased through an "authorized retailer".

Also, if you're hesitant about buying a battery from an online store, take a look at the website of a local battery store (e.g., Batteries+Bulbs) and you might notice that their online prices are lower, and they offer discounts for buy online, pick up in store.

Also, see this thread for a great deal from Summit Racing. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...l#post20764891

I would imagine that's something that varies from retailer to retailer. If you have one in mind, probably best to ask them. Unless you are saving a lot of money, why not stay with the local place? Saves having to potentially ship a battery back if something happens.

different retailers will have different policies. usually they have them posted somewhere on their website. the ones i've checked have usually stated that it's up to the purchaser to send the item back so they can check it out. oh, thats at your expense too. so for things like batteries, i'd rather buy local-ish. i don't want the hassle of returning a battery through usps or ups/fedex.

or, if it's cheap enough, just throw the dice and take the chance that there would be no warranty issue within the first year, and figure on paying full pop to replace it later.

That's why I buy my Deka batteries from O'Reilly's. About the same price and they are two miles away

I just had an issue with a Batterymart big crank. Bought in April and in July it wouldn’t start the bike after sitting a week (not on tender). Sent it back to vender and they said it was bad. Offered replacement or prorated refund. I went with the replacement and so far it’s fine. I did have to pay like 30 dollars. This was my first online battery purchase and I think I will buy local from now on. Between shipping it back, their testing, and waiting for the new one was a couple weeks.

I will add that Batterymart was very easy to deal with and they covered the shipping expenses.

Have you checked with your local Lowes for your battery? Order through them, pick it up, keep your receipt, top off the charge on the battery, install it and go riding.

I was just curious about any experiences people had. Seem to see people recommend batteries from online places fairly often.

Thanks for the info.

Any problems I return to local store
