Revo A’s were my choice for rear shocks because they don’t recommend the heavy duty springs unless combined weight is 500 lb or higher vs other shocks I looked at were 350 or less. The rwd’s I ran were like a magic carpet ride riding solo (I’m 210) but loaded 2 up, there was a noticeable difference. I would say the legends are great riding solo, maybe a step below rwd but definitely superior riding 2 up.

Great experience write up Mark. To be sure almost anything properly adjusted is better than stock. I am still playing with the settings on my 14” Pro Action on my Tri Glide but one thing is sure, both Mrs Notgrownup and I are sure they are working better than the air suspension it came with. With me not wanting to keep the bike for a long time,I am hesitant to spend so much on the front suspension but I am considering Intiminators inserts. Wouldn’t break the bank and reviews are decent.
I have recently considered trying Super Shox 14.5” for the rear because they are so easy to adjust but I’m not sure they can outperform my Pro Action when perfectly adjusted.

The Ohlins on my 07 and Progressive cartridges, Gave me that Ah ah feeling. I still have the bike but don’t ride it like I should anymore because I enjoy riding the Tri Glide so much. So many toys, so little time. Plus I have now started a new hobby of Woodworking as well.

We are considering riding the trike to Canada in late summer but this is just a thought still.

Next time Mrs Notgrownup and I go up your way I will let you know, maybe we can have a meet at Freeborne’s or somewhere h you recommend.

Great write up. I did put the piggy back Ohlins on my 20 Road Glide and there was a noticeable difference, especially for my passenger. Mama ain't skinny so between the 2 of us, there's a load of weight 2 up. Really happy with them.

I recently rode my son's 48, and being I'm 6'1" and 230 lbs, better shocks are needed. I don't know the availability of a piggy back shock from Ohlins for the sporty, their model selector for the XL1200X only goes to 2020, but I don't think the bike has changed since then.

Does anyone have a piggy back recommendation other than Ohlins for the sporty?

TN, check out this original thread when I did the install. There was some follow up comments by others.

Yeah I remember I started reading that a while back. At the time I didn’t appreciate how much I’d be wanting to do this upgrade, but since then I’ve become much more comfortable and familiar with the Street Glide and definitely now feel like it’s the missing link. Thanks

Not sure if this is what Cosmic was referring to but I had the PA front end kit in my previous 2012 UC. They worked & performed very well but the front end had a distinct "clunk" sound...mostly slow speed. Most noticeable when entering/exiting a driveway...hitting that little bit of a raised curb at the road. In fact the indy I used to install them noticed it as well and pulled them apart and re-installed to make sure it was done correctly.

That being said, I liked the PA kit enough that I had them installed in my current 2020 RGL this winter. I just got out for my first ride yesterday and so far, so good...no "clunk" out of these.

Thanks Lefty, I appreciate your feedback. I remember now the term being “Clunk”. I cannot help but think the tube spacer it cut to the incorrect length but it’s only a guess.

As I mentioned I have not experienced this on either of the two kits I installed.

I have noticed 1x when a loud "clunk" appeared to come from the front end following my Pro Action Fork Kit, but nothin again. I really do think it was me expecting to hear something so my brain filled it in...

Anyway, be very honest with your riding style/type when ordering your front end kit so that it is sprung correctly for you. I notice a difference when riding solo and then riding 2up. When I am 2up it's beautiful and plush. Solo I feel more of the bumps and stuff. That's to be expected when it is sprung for the more weight of 2up and trunk and gear and such.
