We all start somewhere. I started riding over 21 years ago. It was on a 50cc Honda MoPed. That little thing was a lot of fun. Plus, I was the only eigth grader riding to school. Man, I thought I was cool. Scooters have come a long way, since then. I even saw on the newsstand, the other day, a magazine dedicated to scooter owners. Get what you can afford, would be my suggestion. There are a bunch of older metric bikes that are in your price range, check out www.craigslist.com .

It's not what you start out on--it's what you end up on.

I heard once that, fat girls and mopeds have one thing in common. they are fun to ride but don't let your buddies see you riding them! lol. But seriously, Get what ever fits your budget. The wife and I rented mopeds when in Cozumel, they were more fun than a barrel of monkeys! My freind just recently bought a 750 Honda Shadow. Dealer financing was easy they slipped him right into the seat! I took a ride on his bike and it does evrything right, good machine!

You would be better off looking for a used "Name Brand" scooter like a Honda or Yamaha. The Chinese junk is just that "JUNK." The Parts Only in the warantee should explain that pretty well. They won't lose any money on the parts because they don't have any. We call them throw aways and I've seen people who have bought them and never ever got them to run correctly.

Are you going to do any freeway driving? That will be to small for that kind of speed, and here in california, you cant take a smaller than 250cc on freeways. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

i cant take freeways with my truck. but i think i've got a buyer for the tires.

my friend has a bronco 2 thats in need of tires and before my truck died, one tire blew, so i got all new ones, and now it wont run. he's willing to trade for his old kawasaki.

My truck doesn't work. And a car is not neccesarry (i'll be getting my dads soon enough before the cold weather kicks in). I've never riddin a motorcycle, though i do a fair share of mountian biking (bicycle). I'd like a bike, not a harley to start out with, but something street legal. Harleys and motorcycles in general are a bit more than i have the money to pay. mopeds are more in my price range, but being from milwaukee, and a good bunch of my relatives have harleys, would it be looked down upon?

well, i need something to get to my job and school with.
Check cycletrader and craigslist in your area.

You can get an early 80s metric cruiser for under $1500. A real old Honda Magna for example.

But maybe a better option is to buy a plated dirt bike conversion, or buy an old one and do a street legal conversion on it yourself.

You're in Michigan you say? You'll get a lot more respect for riding a plated dirt bike than you will that moped.

look for a older dual sport like a suzuki ds350 or something similair there nice bikes and fun plus the best bikes to learn on because if you can handle one of them you can handle any of these bikes and probally become a better rider quicker than some of the guys raggin on ya. Have fun did i mention yu can play in the dirt with a DS

The last I had heard ( many years ago ) fora M/C to be Freeway legal it had to have at least 15 HP . Not sure about 4-stroke engines , but just about any 125cc 2-stroke filled that requirement , but then that was back "in the day" !
