Dropped Bike for 1st Time
Okay, I guess I can scratch dropping my '08 Dyna Super Glide off the list. Filled up the tank, added my stabilizer and was just going around the block to get that circulated. Stopped at a stop sign, no traffic either way - started to turn and for some reason just didn't get it done! I'm fine, the bike is fine except for I have a few scratches on my 2 week old Rinehart 2-in-1's - that hurts a little. No, that hurts ALOT! I think I would be okay with it except for it did get the black Rinehart pipe that is black with their name on it. So of course it's noticable to anyone looking at it.
Any suggestions on what to do about it? Can you buff scratches out? There are a couple that are deep, the few others are minor. Can I put a black Sharpie marker to the black part? I guess since I just got this bike in August it's still VERY new to me and being female, that makes it all the more noticeable.
I did get it put away for the winter, or at least for the next 3 or 4 months but in the meantime those scratches are going to eat away at me! And they'll be staring at me when I go get her out of storage in the spring. So any suggestions will be appreciated. That way I can ask for whatever it is I might use for Christmas! hahaha I'm sure Santa shops at the Harley store!!!
Love the forum - I'm learing new stuff every time I'm visiting!

RE: Dropped Bike for 1st Time
Well now that you got dropping it out of the way you can concentrate on the fun of riding it. When may girlfriend was learning to ride she was so nervous about dropping her sporty she could not give her full 100% to her riding. After she dropped it twice in one day she wasn't as nervous and her riding kept improving.
Are those end caps removable? If so maybe you can switch them so the scratches are on the inside of the opposite pipe and less noticeable. Or just make up a story that you got them from dragging the pipes through the twisties.

If you scratched the black endcaps just call Bub and get new ones ($70 bucks). If that's it then good you got the drop out of the way and you can just RIDE!

RE: Dropped Bike for 1st Time
Hey you got lucky, I dropped mine in front of the guys I ride with. Did more damage to my pride than the bike. I am still not sure how I did it, I was pulling into a parking lot and just layed it on its' side for no reason except I forgot what I was doing for a brief moment.
