Default HDF reminds me of the old CB days

Got to thinking , this is alot like the early 70's , I used to sit in front of my CB in the garage and copy the mail. Everybody had a "handle", we'd "break in" and add comments to each others dialogue and kinda keep in touch. You'd get "stepped on" by others so you added "power" and you could talk right over em . But someone always had more power. Then on occasion atmospheric conditions would change and the "skip" would roll thru and you'd be talking BS to people all over the country.

Now we sit here at the putor, read alot of BS, write alot of BS using our screen name, keep in touch with people all over the world and occasionally get stepped on by the moderator . Modern Technology....gotta luv it !

I was a ham operator, and I ran 50 watts all over the world. I'd get reports on my signal being every bit as good as a 1,000 watt station, just not as loud, but I got through good.
I don't have to scream to make a point, just make it. Once it's said, it's out there, good buddy...

I still run radios and still run power
as a matter of fact I got about 5 foot warmers here ranging from 100 watts on the low side to over 2k on the high side
have a few 11 meeters and even acouple 10 meter radios
still have an old tram Base station in the storage shed along with a Perice Simpson super linx

also got over 500 QSL Cards if you know any collectors that would want to purchase them

Still have some Radio's left over.

Sold my Johnson Viking Valiant Transmitter and Hallicrafters SX-101 Receiver a few years ago. Spent alot of time as a kid using them on 11 Meters to the disgust of my neighbors televisions.

Yep, looks like the Internet just took it's place...

Too funny. I was a teenager in the 70's and used to talk on my dad's CB all the time!

And trying to make CB work on your Harley. I had a Pace 23 channel mounted in the back in the trunk, and the volume control, squelch, and hand mike affixed to a Motorola speaker (like the cops had then) mounted to the handlebar cover. Mounted the radio on my own invented vibration isolator. Had a 48" Shakespear top loaded fiberglass whip mounted on the right rear saddlebar guard. It got out pretty good base to mobile.
