I was stationed there 20 years ago, lived in a couple of different apartments in Colorado Springs at that time. Went by them for old times sake a couple of years ago and the neighborhoods weren't quite the same. OK,they went down the tubes from what I could tell. Wish I had some up to date info for you but someone will jump in.
I am not at the fort but at Peterson AFB.
Colorado Springs has plenty of good areas to live. They are building so many new home additions that the housing market has become stagnant. If you are thinking about buying a house there are plenty of them and they are willing to deal. There are also a buttload of rentals because folks are hoping the market will pick up in the next couple of years and then make a little profit.
I would HIGHLY recommend Colorado Springs! The weather can be a challenge sometimes but all you have to do is wait a couple of hours and it will be completely different. Some of us ride year round but most park their bikes and wait for the snow to melt. Sucks to be them!!!

If you have kids look for a place in District 20 or Northern 11. Avoid anythingin District 2. My wife student taught in 2 and received absolutley no support. I was Carson 98-01 withthe Cavtheymoved out and 4ID is moving in. Family didn't move when I PCS to FL in 01.I will probably have one more PCS and on the next onefamily will probably move back toCOS (we never sold the house)
You'll enjoy theweather you can ride year round. If it does snow it's gone within a day.

District 2 is the WORST!! My wife also taught in the district for 2 years and would rather work at McDonalds than return there. The kids were fun but the administration was horrible.
Try to look at the Northern part of the city and you will be fine (district 20 or 49).

stro1965, I see you're a LEO. Didn't happen to be assigned to the 984th when you were stationed there by any chance? Was there myself @ '81.
